Cricket Leadership Programme develops skills and promotes girls sport
Giles Academy have had their second group of students complete the ‘Chance to Shine’ cricket leadership programme, which has enabled our students to develop skills like communication, leadership and perseverance that will benefit them throughout their life.
Chance to Shine is a national charity with the aim of spreading the power of cricket throughout schools and communities by giving children the opportunity to play, learn and develop through cricket.
This dedicated group have been participating in leadership training ahead of being able to support with the running of primary school cricket events. Students have studied how to lead cricket sessions that are fun, safe, accessible to all, engaging and informative.
Mrs Cooper, Teacher of PE said “It was a huge privilege to award the students with their well-earned certificates. The students will be putting their new skills to use very soon as they help to run and officiate at the upcoming primary cricket festival. I am confident our new sports leaders will be fantastic ambassadors for Giles Academy and help promote girls sport for the next generation.”
