Giles Academy are finalists in Lincolnshire Sport & Physical Activity Awards

We are pleased to announce that Giles Academy have been shortlisted as finalists for the ‘Contribution to Children & Young People Award’ at the Lincolnshire Sport & Physical Activity Awards 2022.

These awards recognise the positive impact physical activity can have on people’s lives, and celebrates those who actively contribute to the health and wellbeing of Lincolnshire residents.

The ‘Contribution to Children & Young People Award’ we have been shortlisted for celebrates those who have made an outstanding contribution to providing opportunities for children and young people to have a positive experience of physical activity.

It is a fantastic achievement for Giles Academy and a special thanks go to Mrs Sarah Cooper and Mr Craig Dodd for organising the ‘Giles Golf Rocks’ sessions, which is the initiative selected for the award.

The sessions introduced golf to girls at Giles Academy where we had 17 girls participate in the lunchtime and after school sessions with Sophie Hunter who is a PGA Professional from Boston West Golf Club.

The aim of the project, which was funded the Golf Foundation was to encourage participants who do not normally participate in traditional team sports, whilst reducing barrier to participation and increasing representation. The project also delivered Golfway to 14 teachers and young leaders from 8 different schools amd organisations.

We will find out if we have won at a prestigious presentation ceremony in Lincoln on Thursday 3rd November 2022.
