Giles athletes are chosen to represent South Lincolnshire county squad

It is a real honour to be selected to represent your county as this features the very best athletes from schools across the local area.

We are delighted that Tillie, Evie and Luciella have all successfully been selected for the South Lincolnshire athletics squad who will compete against other squads representing Lincoln, Coastal and Wolds and Kesteven areas of the county. To have three students from Giles Academy represented is a great achievement for the students and school.

To achieve their place in the squad they competed in the Lincolnshire Track & Field Championships at South Kesteven Stadium at Grantham earlier this month.

Tillie successfully qualified from the heats for the 100m final and was part of the relay team that came second. Evie competed in two very hard-fought races in the 200m and 1500m and Luciella qualified from the heats to get into the 200m final in an extremely high standard sprinting race.

Mr Reed, Head of PE and Mrs Cooper, Teacher of PE both praised all of the students for their efforts and determination throughout the day and congratulated them on their successful results. It is wonderful to see Giles Academy athletes performing to such high standards.
