Outstanding first impressions from families at our Open Evening

The sunshine brought out hundreds of visitors to the Giles Academy Open Evening last night as students in Years 4 to 6 and parents/carers could view Giles Academy and speak to our staff and students.

There were guided tours of the subject areas from our students to show everything the school has to offer and there were two presentations from Mrs Lucy Conley, Executive Headteacher and Miss Katie Belcher, Head of School.

We would like to thank every one of the Giles Academy students who were amazing on the evening as they were so enthusiastic and passionate about wanting to represent the subject areas and show families around the school. Emi–Mai Foreman and Tomass Goreliks in Year 7 did a fantastic job speaking so confidently in the main hall during the presentation.

The Open Evenings provide the perfect opportunity for parents/carers to really find out about the school as there is no substitute to seeing it in person. On the evening we received lots of positive feedback from parents and received this email from a mum and dad of a Year 4 child who attended the Open Evening last night.

“I wanted to commend you on, not only your school, but the obvious passion and care of all staff that we were fortunate enough to meet – and of course your model students, who were a credit to you.

It was clear that you had included pupils from a range of backgrounds and abilities to support the evening, and they did so with obvious pride in their school and confidence in their approach; they were articulate, polite and welcoming – qualities which we try to nurture in our own son. It was so refreshing to see such positive young people actively involved in the promotion of their school.

If first impressions count, then our first impression was ‘outstanding’!”

  • The next Giles Academy Open Evening will be on Thursday 6th October 2022 where we are looking forward to welcoming even more families to our school.
