A local artist, Emily Cartwright is working with Geography students at Giles Academy on an exciting project called ‘River of Hope’, which is part of Her Majesty The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Pageant.

Emily has delivered the first part in a series of workshops to explain the project and help students learn new skills by using art as a way of expressing ideas. As an arts-based learning project is will also make students think about climate change and the ecosystem in their artwork.

Schools from across the UK and around the world will be taking part in the project so it is exciting that Giles are part of this, especially as the final design that students create will be used in a flag to be part of the Jubilee parade in June.
