Transition to Giles Academy 2023
We are pleased to welcome new students to our school community. The information on this webpage is to help ensure the smooth transition from primary school to Giles Academy. We will effectively communicate with you and be here to answer any questions you may have.
- If you have any questions, please contact the Transition team at Giles Academy via firstname.lastname@example.org
At Giles Academy, you will receive a high standard of education from our exceptional staff, supported by our excellent facilities. We are proud of our high quality teaching and outstanding pastoral care to support all of our students so they can achieve their full potential.
We have arranged for all of our new students to visit Giles Academy for the full day on Friday 30th June 2023. This will give students the opportunity to get to know the schools a little better, make new friends and ask any questions.
- All students will need to arrive at Giles Academy by 8.45am. If students are arriving by car, you will need to bring them to the main entrance at the front of school.
- The Transition Day will finish at 3.00pm for all students.
- Students should wear their primary school uniform on this day.
- Lunch will be provided free of charge, but we ask that students bring water in an appropriate plastic bottle for the day.
Further information about the Transition Day will be provided nearer the time so please ensure we have always have your up to date contact information.

Dedicated yards for each year group
We know that by providing dedicated yards for each year group with staff visible in each yard, it creates a happy student community, a sense of belonging and enables students to safely socialise with their friends.
On the aerial map, you can see how each year group has their own area before school starts, during morning break and at lunchtime. At these times, the respective Pastoral Year Lead for each year group will always be in their own yard.
This helps Year 7 with their transition from primary school as our students come from over 25 different primary schools, so no one will ever feel alone as they will make friends quickly and feel part of our family community.
