Boys 4v4 Basketball Team crowned South Lincolnshire champions
Congratulations to the team of Year 7 boys who are our sporting heroes as they won South Lincolnshire Plate 4v4 Basketball Competition.
This annual competition was held at Spalding Grammar School, where eight teams from schools all across the region competed in a highly competitive tournament.
The tournament was a round-robin format where all eight teams played each other once then a league table determined who would progress. The top four teams then progressed to the semi-finals and then a knock-out game to earn a place in the final.
Having secured a place in the semi-finals, we faced Spalding Academy and delivered a confident performance in a high scoring game as we won 6-2 and secured a place in the final.
The final against University Academy Holbeach proved to be an incredibly tense and closely fought match, remaining 0–0 even after overtime. The result came down to free throws, where Giles Academy held their nerve to claim a 1–0 victory.
Mr Reed, Teacher of PE said “This is a fantastic achievement for the team, and we are incredibly proud of their determination, teamwork, and sportsmanship throughout the competition.”
