Young Carer breakfast event launched to support students
On Tuesday 10th February 2026, we will be holding our first Young Carer Breakfast. Students who are Young Carers are invited to attend a FREE breakfast event in the school canteen for a free pastry and hot chocolate. There is no need to let anyone know you are attending – students can just turn up for the breakfast.
At the breakfast, we will let students know about the support we can offer and they can speak with other students so they know others who also help someone in their family.
There are more students who are Young Carers in our school than you may imagine as often young people and families don’t realise that what they do at home is actually caring. Many see it as simply helping out or being part of family life.
A Young Carer is a young person who helps to care for someone in their family. This may be a parent, sibling, grandparent, or another relative who has a long-term illness, disability, mental health difficulty, or other additional needs.
Caring can also take many forms, such as helping with everyday tasks, offering emotional support, looking after siblings, or simply being someone that others rely on.
Our aim is to ensure that every student in our school feels supported and they can gain access to the wide range of support available.
We look forward to welcoming students to the breakfast event in the school canteen.
