Giles Academy host ECB U15 Girls Indoor Cricket Competition

The popularity of cricket has been on the increase at Giles Academy over the last few years, especially when it comes to girls playing this fast-paced and exciting sport.

We were therefore proud when Giles Academy were asked to be hosts of the North Semi-Finals of the ECB U15 Girls Indoor Cricket Competition. Giles Academy has one of the largest indoor sports halls in the area, so we had the perfect facilities to host the competition.

To reach the semi-finals, we beat both Spalding High School and Spalding Academy in very competitive matches with our players showing excellent skills, particularly in batting and fielding.

Our students knew that the semi-finals would mean competing at a higher level as they will be facing students who regularly played at Cricket Clubs in their local areas.

We played matches against Caistor Grammar School and Queen Elizabeth’s Grammar School, and whilst we did not progress to the final, it was a great experience for the girls as both our batting and fielding progressed as the competition went on.

This is yet another season where girls cricket has continued to improve at Giles Academy and our team has demonstrated how competitive they can be. Well done to all the players for reaching the semi-finals and everyone is looking forward to future competitions.
