First matches of the season for U12 and U14 netball teams

There is always much excitement amongst the PE department when the netball season comes along. Not only does it mean it is nearly spring as the days start to get lighter, but there are always some cracking netball matches to enjoy!

The U14 team are no strangers to winning netball matches, and they continued their excellent form from last season as they played their first match against Cowley Academy. In this match, they demonstrated an outstanding level of passing, receiving and shooting, along with amazing team work to win 16-1.

The Players Player of the Match was Daisy Brighton and Coaches Players of the Match were Imogen Smith and Ema Doksvele.

For our U12 team, this was their first competitive league Netball match so the atmosphere was a mixture of first match nerves and excitement, although our students were keen play and put their training into a match. It was a very close game against Haven High Academy and our students were winning 5-2, but a strong comeback in the last 10 minutes from Haven High meant they won 6-7. There are promising signs from this new team as the overall play was very good and we moved the ball well towards the goal.

The Players Player of the Match was Freya Dobson for her amazing movement around the court, and Coaches Player of the Match was Pixie Jackson for all the goals she scored.

If students are interested in playing netball, Mrs Cooper runs an after-school Netball Club on Tuesdays for Years 7 & 8 plus a Netball Club for Years 9, 10 & 11 on Thursdays after-school.
