‘Blitz’ and ‘Ch@os’ at F1 STEM Races Regional Competition
'Blitz' and 'Ch@os' at F1 STEM Races Regional Competition
A group of dedicated STEM students from Years 8 and 9 had the exciting opportunity to take part in the regional event for the F1 STEM Races, which is an international STEM competition endorsed by Formula 1.
Our students received their design brief back in October 2025 and set about designing their model racing cars that they will unveil at the regional competition, which took place at Boston College in January 2026.
After deciding on the team names of ‘Ch@os’ and ‘Blitz’, they set about using their STEM knowledge and skills to come up with a design that looked good and performed even better!
As part of the competition, there were several key areas to overcome, such as learning how to access and use unfamiliar CAD software to produce a design that would be suitable for racing
On the day of the event, both teams were nervous and excited about what they would encounter. Every team had a display area that served as the ‘pit-stop’, and one professional team had arrived with a virtual reality racing booth for pupils to try out!
Congratulations to Team Ch@os who received an award for fastest car entry level and Team Blitz who were nominated for a judges choice award.
The day was an unforgettable experience for our STEM students, with not just our entry-level teams being there, but the developer class and professional class racers!
