National campaign to promote respect and stop bullying
For our extensive PSHE programme that covers Personal, Social, Health and Economic education, we held an Anti-Bullying Week across the school. This is a national campaign organised by the Anti-Bullying Alliance and reaches millions of young people every year. The campaign was run by 80% of schools reaching over 7.5 million children and young people.
The theme for this year is ‘Choose Respect’ to empower students and staff to do something positive to counter the harm and hurt that bullying causes. The aim is to remind everyone to reach out and show each other support, whether it’s in school, at home, in the community or online.
We know that students and parents/carers recognise that Giles Academy has a zero-tolerance to bullying and campaigns such as this helps reinforce the message that it is essential to put a stop to bullying whether online or offline and everyone should feel they can reach out for support.
