PE department are bowled over with generous equipment cricket donation

To ensure that our students are properly kitted out with the very best equipment and are fully prepared for the cricket season, the PE department at Giles Academy have received a generous donation of a brand-new hard ball cricket bag packed full of equipment.

Lincolnshire Cricket in partnership with The Cricket Society have kindly secured funding to provide the kit bags which have been supplied by Hunts County Bats.

This has been well received by our students as Giles Academy have entered a newly created cricket tournament called the Fred Trueman National School League, which was established by the late Fred Trueman and Geoff Hastings to help State Schools play competitive cricket.

Pictured with the donated equipment are our Cricket Leadership students who are currently undertaking the Chance to Shine leadership course to become a sports leader and learn how to coach and deliver sports activities to younger students. Giles Academy were crowned Secondary School of the Year in the Chance to Shine Awards 2023 for their outstanding work in promoting and developing girls cricket.

Mrs Cooper, Teacher of PE said “On behalf of the students, we would like to say a massive thank you to Lincolnshire Cricket, The Cricket Society and Hunts County Bats for providing all this incredible new equipment for our students to use. This will have a significant impact on our students ability to access cricket.”
