Our Careers Fair is open to students and parents/carers

We will be hosting our annual Giles Academy Careers Fair on Thursday 20^th October 2022.

During this event, students will be encouraged to think about what career options are available through an opportunity to speak to a wide array of Post 16 course providers and employers from the local area. We have invited over 40 exhibitors that offer vocational courses, apprenticeships and traineeships.

The event will be open for students in Years 9 to 11 during the school day, and open to all year groups (Years 7 to 11), including parents/carers after school from 3.30pm to 4.45pm.

Parents/carers should park on the school field and enter the Careers Fair via the pedestrian entrance into the sports hall entrance. To gauge interest in how many parents/carers we can expect after school, please complete this very short survey – After School Careers Fair Attendance Survey.

Mrs Libby Barber, Trust Careers & Aspirations Lead said “With an array of interactive and engaging activities, we are keen to inspire our learners and motivate them to achieve their potential. It is a great opportunity for every student to start thinking about their future and be exposed to a wide range of industries and professions.”

The purpose of the day is to help our students develop an insight into the knowledge and skills required when moving on from school into Post 16 provision. All students are now expected to stay in some form of education or training until they are 18 years of age, so the day will provide them with an understanding of the options available to them when they finish their GCSEs. Whatever stage of education your child is at, we feel it is important that your child engages with their career aspirations as early as possible to help start their path on their chosen career and maximise their outcomes.

We are very fortunate to have Burmor Construction, an employer in our local area supporting the event. All exhibitor information, timings and activities for the day will be available on Show my Homework prior to the event.
