Cathedral and Mosque trip provides an insight into places of worship

Over 150 of our Year 7 students took an educational trip to Peterborough this week to visit Peterborough Cathedral and the Faizan E Madina Mosque, which are two of the largest places of worship in the region.

The event was organised so they were free of charge for all students to attend and designed to give them a greater understanding of places of worship as part of the Religious Studies and PSHE curriculum at Giles Academy.

The Imam from the Faizan E Madina Mosque gave a fantastic insight into the Muslim religion and why Mosques are an important part of the community. Then at the Cathedral, there were a series of workshop activities led by volunteers so students could learn more about the Cathedral and Christianity.

We are really grateful to both the Cathedral and Mosque for their time and the warm welcome they gave to our students, who were impeccably behaved and respectful throughout the visit.
