Forget the Fantastic Four – meet our Elite Eleven

A team of eleven motivated Year 10 students travelled to the Peter Paine Performance Centre at Boston College to participate in the annual Elite Eleven Competition where Giles Academy competed against ten other schools from across the county.

Elite Eleven is a mixed inter-school sporting competition that involves 11 secondary schools from across Lincolnshire who compete against each other in a variety of indoor sporting challenges. All four schools in our Trust participated so this added extra competition between our own schools.

The challenges facing our students were tests of fitness, strength, speed, power, agility, memory, problem solving and team-based challenges, which were linked to events seen at the Olympics and Paralympics in Paris 2024. These included a golf challenge, football darts, Illinois agility run, a minefield challenge, farmers walk, netball challenge, sports anagram, new age kurling, BlazePods reaction time challenge, drainpipe teamwork challenge, fitness challenge and a memory challenge.

After all of the challenges were completed and before the presentations, an inspirational talk was given by 4 x World Champion Body Builder, Josh-Blue Majury who discussed his pathway into the industry of bodybuilding and personal training, plus how he himself used setbacks to become successful.

Miss Ward, Teacher of PE at Giles Academy said “Our students showed a lot of perseverance and determination throughout the day. Every student was an asset to the school and all students supported and motivated each other through the challenges they faced. Thank you to Boston College staff and students for organising a fantastic event.”
