England vs Iceland at Wembley was an amazing atmosphere
In preparation for the Euro 2024 tournament in Germany, 55 of our students had an amazing experience last Friday as they got to watch England vs Iceland play an international friendly at best venue in the world – Wembley Stadium!
We were lucky to be able to secure the tickets for our students as the match sold out in advance due to this being the last friendly game before England kick off in their first match in the Euro’s against Serbia this Sunday.
The friendly match was very tightly contested with England players being mindful that they didn’t want to pick up an injury that could rule them out of the upcoming tournament. The only goal of the game came in the first half when Iceland scored a breakaway goal. There was still plenty of action as England applied lots of pressure and had chances to get back into the game. Ultimately, the match was good preparation for the team to build on match fitness.
Mr Dodd, Head of PE said “It was a great experience for our students to feel the amazing atmosphere inside Wembley stadium. We had a great view of the pitch so the students also got to see the teams warming up before kick-off. Despite the result, our students were definitely glad they saw England at Wembley.”
Thank you to all of the staff who gave up their Friday evening to ensure our students have these amazing experiences that they will always remember.
