Forget the Fantastic Four – meet our Elite Eleven
A team of eleven motivated Year 10 and Year 11 students travelled to the Peter Paine Performance Centre at Boston College to compete in the annual Elite Eleven Competition to represent Giles Academy.
Elite Eleven is a mixed inter-school sporting competition that involves 12 secondary schools from across Lincolnshire who compete against each other in a variety of indoor sporting challenges. All four schools in our Trust participated so this added extra competition between our own schools.
The challenges facing our students were tests of fitness, strength, speed, power, agility, memory, problem solving and team-based challenges, which were linked to events seen at the Olympics and Paralympics. These included power cycling, crazy golf, darts, New Age Kurling, football targets, netball shooting and table tennis rallies.
After all of the challenges were completed and before the presentations, an inspirational talk was given by World Champion Body Builder, Joshua-Blue Majury who discussed his pathway into the industry of bodybuilding and personal training.
Mr Reed, Head of PE said “Our students showed perseverance, determination and resilience throughout the tasks whilst competing against other schools. Every student was an asset to the school, and they supported each other through each of the challenges. A big thank you to Boston College for organising the event and hosting us. It was a great day for all involved.”
