National Careers Week inspires post-16 and post-18 pathways

This week is National Careers Week where schools across the UK are celebrating careers guidance to develop awareness and excitement about the future pathways of young people.

As part of the week, there is a useful ‘Parents Guide to National Careers Week’, which we wanted to share with you as this focuses on the different pathways at post-16 and post-18 as well as helpful information about T-levels and Apprenticeships plus additional resources for parents.

At Giles Academy, we are proud to have a dedicated team of careers staff who focus on careers throughout the whole academic year and they play an important role in our school ethos of Aspire, Challenge, Achieve.

This includes a Careers Fair for the whole school, many advice evenings for parents, STEM roadshows, PSHE/SMSC sessions and assemblies with guest speakers, opportunities with the National Citizen Service (NCS) and careers meetings/interventions.

During registration time, we also allocate time each week to focus on a different job to help students explore the wide range of career opportunities available and to help inspire them. Details of these jobs are available here – www.gilesacademy.co.uk/careers-jobs-of-the-week
