Remembrance poppy display created by students and families
Remembrance poppy display and artwork created by students and families
The Art department, students and families at Giles Academy have worked together to honour Remembrance by creating a special installation of poppies, which has its pride of place outside the school hall / reception so everyone can admire.
Last term, the Art Department set a challenge to students in Years 7 to 10 to crochet as many poppies as possible to feature on a flowing black dress. Thank you to everyone who took the time to create and donate their crocheted poppies, which have been featured on the dress. A special mention also goes to the students who attended the Textiles Club run by Miss Curtis who created felt poppies.
As well as this fantastic dress, Year 10 Art students have been creating drawings and paintings featuring a portrait of the late Queen. Below is a Remembrance themed artwork created by Zuzanna Przybylska and another stunning portrait by Paula Rostek.
