SLAT Christmas 2020
SLAT Christmas 2020
South Lincolnshire Academies Trust Executive Headteacher, Mrs Lucy Conley commented:
“It is with a sense of great pride that I am able to share with you some of the many charity events that the Trust’s three schools, Bourne Academy; Spalding Academy and Giles Academy, are currently supporting as we fast approach the Christmas and the New Year.
The pandemic of 2020 has most certainly made its mark on the way we have had to live and work and it is with great sadness that not just nationally, but locally, so many in our community have had to make so many sacrifices.
As a Trust we are aware that many in our local communities have and are, still suffering financial difficulties as a result of this pandemic and the Trust have therefore, supported our communities by taking part in the following initiatives:
- Gift Giving Christmas Trees in each school:
A vast range of gifts have been purchased and wrapped to be distributed, via the local charities, including the Salvation Army and The Voice of Spalding and South Holland, to children in our communities just before Christmas. - Local Food banks:
Students and staff across the Trust have brought in food and other essential items, including festive treats which will be distributed within our communities via local charities. - Save the Children Appeal:
Students in all three Trust school’s will be able to wear Christmas socks or tights on Monday 14th December. Staff in all three schools will also wear Christmas jumpers and the Sixth Form at Bourne Academy will also participate in this fun, charitable event. A Just Giving page has been set up and we are asking our staff and students to make a voluntary contribution to support this event.
In addition to the above, we have received a number of financial donations from people in our local community, including a £500 donation from Buster and Punch, a global lifestyle company with offices in Stamford. This donation will be passed on in the form of vouchers or gifts to show our care for those children in our school communities who are recently bereaved or are young carers, all of whom we want to know that we are thinking of them at this time of year. It goes without saying how grateful we are for this and I would like to thank all our staff; students; parents and those in the community for their kind generosity.”
