Transition Day sets the standard for starting in September

Today, we welcomed all of the Year 6 students from local primary schools who will be starting at Giles Academy in September.

The Transition Day provided the perfect opportunity for Year 6 students to make the smooth transition from primary to secondary school. It helps students to be better prepared and more familiar with the school site before their first day.

Through a timetable of structured lessons and activities they have been able to meet teachers, Heads of House, pastoral staff and the Head of School as well as new friends in their classes.

Mrs Lucy Conley, Executive Headteacher for South Lincolnshire Academies Trust said “It has been a great experience for our new students to get a taster of what life will be like at Giles Academy. We have been impressed with how polite, courteous and well-behaved the new students have been throughout the day. I would like to express my thanks to Miss Dobrianskyj, Pastoral Year Lead for Year 7 for organising the Transition Day and the amazing group of Year 7 Buddies who have helped our new students feel so welcome. On behalf of all the staff at our school, we are looking forward to seeing you in September.”

We have created the video below for Year 6 students and their parents/carers, which supports the information students have received today and we have sent in the transition packs.
