Under 13 Girls Cricket Team compete in County Semi-Finals

It was a great achievement for Giles Academy to reach the semi-finals of the ECB U13 Girls Indoor Cricket Tournament having won the previous round. With girls cricket only being established at our school in the last couple of years, we have come a long way in a short space of time.

The semi-finals were held at St Hugh’s Independent School in Woodhall Spa and our first match was against Queen Elizabeth’s Grammar School. It could not have been any tighter between the two sides as it ended in a draw with the score 62-62.

In the final match against St Hugh’s Independent School, it was all to play for and it was a very high scoring with great batting skills and partnerships. We were just 11 runs away from reaching the County Final as the match ended 75-85 to St Hugh’s who made the most of their home advantage.

Mrs Cooper, Teacher of PE said “The girls were brilliant and made improvements as the tournament progressed. It was a wonderful team effort with some fantastic bowling and incredible catches to get opposition players out.”
