Dear parents / carers,

Firstly may I take this opportunity to wish you and your families a very Happy New Year!

It is my pleasure and privilege to be writing to you in my new role as Head of School for Giles Academy. I feel honoured to be appointed to this new position, having been a member of staff since 2008. I have seen the challenges the school has faced over the past years and I am excited to continue to drive the school forward supported by Mrs Conley, Executive Headteacher, and the South Lincolnshire Academies Trust (SLAT).

I am fortunate to have worked with the South Lincolnshire Academies Trust during the last 18 months and feel that with this fantastic support the school can once again return to its rightful position of the school of choice within the surrounding community. The school has developed positive and sustainable relationships with the families of our students and has a family centred approach at its core.

When I was initially appointed at Giles Academy I was Head of the Music Department, a role that I held for many years having been a classically trained musician prior to undertaking my teaching career. Alongside the role of Head of Department, I have held other significant posts, which have enabled me to positively support the wellbeing and welfare of children and their families. Over the last 14 years, I have experienced a variety of roles within the school setting such as Head of Year, Head of Key Stage 4 and moving through to Senior Leadership and Designated Safeguarding Lead. My personal vision is to ensure that each and every student of Giles Academy receives the very best opportunities to achieve academically and socially, creating resilient, confident and happy learners. I will be working closely with the executive team across SLAT to ensure our child centred creates a positive and successful culture of excellence.

Giles Academy is a school which is on a rapidly improving transitional journey under the guidance of SLAT. It is a true privilege to be leading a school that maintains traditional values where staff, children, parents/carers work collaboratively supporting children to be lifelong learners.

I look forward to continuing to working with the hardworking and committed staff body to provide support all members of the Giles Academy community.

I look forward to working with all the staff, students and parents / carers in the future.

Kindest regards,

Ms Katie Belcher
Head of School, Giles Academy
