UCAS
UCAS
UCAS is the organisation responsible for managing your application to university or college. It is there to help you make an informed decision.
The Course Search function provides you with courses that match your criteria and where you can study them; it can also give you a good understanding of what a course is about.
Entry Profiles tell you what grades and any other requirements you will need to study such courses.

It is important in year 12 that you start to build up experiences that can enhance your personal statement when you are beginning the process of applying for university. Attending clubs and trips offered by teachers at Bourne Academy can enhance a student’s personal statement.
It is advisable to start researching your university choices and attend open days early on in year 12 so that you are fully prepared in year 13.
In Year 12 all students take up a Work Placement in the field of work they are keen to follow. This structured placement may take the form of a weekly commitment or a block week/fortnight during the holiday periods. This placement offers students the chance to be reflective and enhance their personal statement.
University Open Days
In most cases you are expected to book a place on the day you wish to attend via the University’s website. Some open days book up quickly, so plan in advance. It is possible to attend a university open day during school time but you must inform the sixth form office. Some Universities offer self- guided tours and other events, so check their websites for the finer details.
It is important for veterinary, medicine and Oxbridge candidates to be fully prepared to complete their personal statement and apply to university by the start of the Autumn Term of year 13 as closing date for UCAS applications is 15th October.
